After a brief hiatus, the Minnesota Opportunity Collaborative (MNOppCo) is pleased to announce the resumption of its webinar series. The webinars, which ran monthly throughout 2019 and into early 2020, give Minnesota opportunity zone stakeholders the opportunity to hear from fellow practitioners, opportunity fund representatives, and local and national experts on the incentive.

“The outbreak of the coronavirus has shown how valuable opportunity zones can be as a recovery tool,” said Elissa Hansen, the President & CEO of The Northspan Group, Inc. “We can use the incentive to drive investment into communities that need support and make sure it’s part of the strategy for employment growth and meeting other community needs.”

The planned schedule for 2020 webinars is as follows:

  1. June 23, 1:30 PM
  2. August 25, 1:30 PM
  3. October 15, 1:30 PM
  4. December 15, 1:30 PM

The June 23 webinar will feature representatives from The Governance Project, a community development nonprofit that has been a national leader in supporting local opportunity zone capacity. The August 25 webinar will feature Dannielle Lewis of Wipfli, whose accounting expertise has guided numerous opportunity zone projects from concept to reality. We will adapt our offerings later in the year to any new developments with the incentive and provide updates on efforts to make sure opportunity zone investments have positive social impacts on their communities.

Participation in the webinars is free but requires registration. Once you register, you will receive a Zoom link with calendar information. The webinar registration for each event is posted on each event’s page here: https://mnoppco.com/events/.
