Case Study: Chester Bowl Improvement Club, Strategic Planning

CHESTER BOWL IMPROVEMENT CLUB, STRATEGIC PLANNING | 2021

Challenge: The Chester Bowl Improvement Club, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting programming in Chester Bowl Park in Duluth, Minnesota, sought to create its first strategic plan in a decade. The organization sought to raise capital to provide affordable access to its ski hill and summer camps, and to ensure that use of its programming reflects the demographics of surrounding neighborhoods.

Role: Facilitated a strategic planning process to review the mission and organization objectives, and to create strategic directions for the organization. This process took place over two three-hour sessions with the CBIC board and staff, which were held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Results: CBIC is now operating off a new three-year strategic plan that includes a re-affirmed mission, objectives, and five new strategic directions. The organization continues to work with Northspan to ensure implementation of the plan.
